Despite to the fact that now were found some inaccuracies in this paper, we<br />
consider that the work of St. Ciobanu remains a pioneer in elucidating the<br />
history of Chisinau.<br />
About Chisinau’s appearance, as well as the internal flow of its life, tells<br />
us more Gh. Bezviconi. In another work, the author examines the way of<br />
conferring noble titles in Bessarabia during the years 1812-1918, making a<br />
list of noble families, which contains ranks and positions they occupied in<br />
the administration of Bessarabia, including Chisinau. Among these figures,<br />
shows the author Panteleimon Sinadino, noble Greek origin, mayor of<br />
Chisinau (1905-1910) and the <strong>la</strong>st three Duma deputy city.<br />
The world trade city of Chisinau has been reflected in the pages of the works<br />
of V. Zhukov and N. Babilunga. Thus, V. Zhukov c<strong>la</strong>ims that in the early<br />
twentieth century Chisinau was the most important trade and craft center of<br />
Bessarabia and one of the most representative of the Russian Empire, p<strong>la</strong>cing<br />
fourteenth p<strong>la</strong>ce in terms of the popu<strong>la</strong>tion number in the entire empire. The<br />
paper examines a number of the particu<strong>la</strong>r aspects of of urban life’s organization,<br />
such as: prices for <strong>la</strong>bor day, townspeople ratio of income and expenditure,<br />
the minimum consumption per capita, etc., issues which have enabled us<br />
to pursue more detailed level and living conditions of Kishinev.<br />
The same period, the years 1970 to 1980 of the <strong>la</strong>st century, dates the<br />
work of V. Zelenciuc. These include more about clothes townspeople in the<br />
twentieth century, the author mainly focus on folk and on the Moldovan<br />
stage costume. However, the most recent data and arguments made by the<br />
researchers I. Palit-Pa<strong>la</strong>de and M. Batca on clothing items and fashion trends<br />
of the early twentieth century, are convincing to the fact that male and female<br />
costume disappeared the geographic area of Chisinau still in the mid-nineteenth<br />
century, some aspects of it are worn on holidays, only at the periphery.<br />
The appearance of the town was the subject of numerous research studies<br />
and articles published in the periodical press of Chisinau. Although bear<br />
prints style of publishing, such items are intended to inform the reader of<br />
today, <strong>la</strong>rgely residents of the capital, Chisinau history of monuments, such<br />
as: Cimitirul Central, Catedra<strong>la</strong> Schimbării <strong>la</strong> faţă, Complexul istorico-arhitectural<br />
from downtown and others.<br />
Study of urban popu<strong>la</strong>tion of Bessarabia during the <strong>la</strong>te nineteenth century<br />
- early twentieth century history is the subject of recent D. Poştarencu’s<br />
concerns. The author addresses several aspects of this issue: the ethnic,<br />
social, and confessions by the urban popu<strong>la</strong>tion by sex from Bessarabia, its<br />
educational level, etc.
