F.6 PATHWAY PARAMETERS RELEVANT TO RADIOLOGICAL DOSE CALCULATIONS<br />

Radiation exposure <strong>of</strong> man via'airborne pathways may include that from radiation emitted<br />

from overhead plumes and ground-level clouds; direct radiation from radionuclides deposited<br />

on the ground; inhalation <strong>of</strong> radionuclides released to the atmosphere; and consumption <strong>of</strong><br />

foods produced from vegetation upon which radionuclides have been deposited or which have<br />

been grown in soils on which deposition has accumulated. Such foods may include vegetables<br />

from local gardens; milk from cows foraging on pasture grass; or meat from animals raised<br />

on pasture and feed grown in the vicinity <strong>of</strong> the plant. These pathways are illustrated in<br />

Figure F.6.1.<br />
