The nuclear power growth cases and repository startup dates considered for the once-<br />

through cycle system simulation are shown in Table 7.1.2. A range <strong>of</strong> repository startup<br />

dates was used for the first three cases, that is, 1990 to 2010 representing the proposed<br />

program and 2010 to 2030 representing the alternative program. The 2010 startup provides<br />

both the last year <strong>of</strong> the range under the proposed program and the first year <strong>of</strong> the range<br />

under the alternative program. To simplify the analysis, only a single mid-range repository<br />

startup date, year 2000 representing the proposed program and 2020 representing the alterna-<br />

tive program, was used for Cases 4 and 5. However, the same potential range as in the other<br />

cases should be inferred.<br />

The nuclear power growth cases and reprocessing and repository startup dates considered<br />

for the reprocessing system simulation are shown in Table 7.1.3. Cases 1 and 2 were elimi-<br />

nated from consideration here because reprocessing was not considered to be credible under<br />
