Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Wesleyan Methodist church with the<br />
Rev. WAYNE of Fairmount officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Church of the Brethren<br />
cemetery. Friends may call at the Umbaugh funeral home in Argos until 1 p.m. Sunday, when the<br />
body will be taken to the church to lie in state.<br />

James H. Shobe<br />
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home<br />
for James Herbert SHOBE, 86, who died at Woodlawn hospital Saturday at 2:45 p.m. after a 10month<br />
illness. He had been a hospital patient nine weeks.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Rev. James RHOADS will officiate at the rites and burial will be in the I.O.O.F.<br />
cemetery here. Friends may call at the funeral home.<br />
Mr. Shobe, one of Rochester’s earliest car dealers, resided at 1127 Jefferson street. He<br />
was born Aug. 5, 1872, in Lima, O., and had lived in this community 78 years, coming here as a<br />
child with his family via covered wagon. His marriage was Feb. 27, 1895, at Macy, to Leora<br />
SEVERNS, who died June 17, 1955. His parents were Samuel and Cinderella CONRAD SHOBE.<br />
Mr. Shobe had been a dealer in Haynes autos, one of the earliest makes, and later sold<br />
Studebaker, Dodge and Nash cars. He also had been a livestock broker.<br />
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Hattie PENNINGTON, Rochester, and Mrs. Mattie<br />
CHRISTMAN, Indianapolis; one granddaughter, Mrs. Patricia BETTCHER, Phoenix, Ariz.; three<br />
great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.<br />
Minnie D. Cannon<br />
Mrs. Minnie Dell CANNON, 90, Kewanna, died Snday at 12:40 p.m. in the Miller<br />
nursing home here following a long illness.<br />
Born March 4, 1869, in Flton county, she was the daughter of John M. and Sarah Jane<br />
LOUGH. She was married Sept. 3, 1890, to William T. CANNON in Kewanna. He died in 1927.<br />
Mrs. Cannon was a member of the Rebekah Past Grand club and of the Kewanna Baptist<br />
church.<br />
Surviving are two sons, Hugh [CANNON], Winamac, and Dean [CANNON], St.<br />
Petersburg, Fla.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.<br />
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Harrison chapel at Kewanna with the<br />
Rev. Harry TAYLOR officiating. Burial will be in the Kewanna I.O.O.F. cemetry. Friends may<br />
call at the Harrison chapel.<br />
Brent Blacketor<br />
Brent BLACKETOR, 79, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kline BLACKETOR, Jr., R.R. 5,<br />
Rochester, was killed this morning about 11:40 o’clock when he was crushed by a 25-ton road<br />
grader on a highway construction project near Culver.<br />
Blacketor, employed as a truck driver for the McMahan Construction company, was<br />
working on the new location of Ind. 17, a mile south of Ind. 10, when the accident occurred.<br />
Sheriff Jerry GREENLEE of Marshall county, Chief of Police Don MIKESELL of<br />
Culver, State Trooper James YOUNG and Dr. Marshall STINE of Bremen, Marshall county<br />
coroner, investigated.<br />
