Amy Borden<br />

Mrs. Amy (UMBAUGH) BORDEN, 80, 410 Jefferson street, died Wednesday at 4:45<br />

p.m. in Woodlawn hospital, where she had been admitted eight hours earlier. Death came after a<br />

prolonged illness. She was one of 13 children.<br />

Born Jan. 23, 1879, near Elida, O., she was the daughter of John and Rachel SHOBE<br />

UMBAUGH. She came to Rochester at six years of age and had resided here since that time<br />

except for 2 1/2 years in South Haven, Mich. She was married March 12, 1905, near Tiosa to<br />

Arghur C. BORDEN, who died June 4, 1945. Mrs. Borden was a member of the St. John’s<br />

Lutheran church.<br />

Surviving are one son, Charles A. BORDEN, R.R. 2, Rochester; one daughter, Mrs.<br />

Beaman (Effie) SUDDITH, R.R. 5, Rochester; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four<br />

sisters, Mrs. Harry (Edna) GARMEN, Uniontown, O.; Mrs. George (May) DITTMAR, Sr.,<br />

Springfield, O.; Mrs. Eudell (Rita) HARRIMAN, Osceola, and Mrs. Dan (Minnie) BIDDINGER,<br />

Argos; two brothers, Thornton UMBAUGH, South Bend, and Fred UMBAUGH, Harvey, Ill.; one<br />

half-brother, Frank UMBAUGH, Argos, and several nieces and nephews. Three sisters and three<br />

brothers preceded her in death.<br />

Funeral rites will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the St. John’s Lutheran church with the Rev.<br />

Delmar KRUEGER officiating. Burial will be in Reichter cemetery. Friends may call at the<br />

residence after 7 p.m. today. <strong>The</strong> body will lie in state at the church one hour before the services.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Foster & Good funeral home is in charge of arrangements.<br />

Lloyd Rovell<br />

Lloyd ROVELL, 74, who had lived in the Richland Center and Culver communities for<br />

44 years, died in his home on West Shore drive at Culver Wednesday morning. He had been ill<br />

for many years, in serious condition for the last five weeks.<br />

Born in Disko on May 14, 1885, he had been associated for the last 40 years with L. G.<br />

WALTERS in a boat rental business at Lake Maxinkuckee. He also had been a carpenter.<br />

Surviving are the widow, Ora Florence ROVELL, and nieces and nephews.<br />

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the residence, with the Rev. Vernon L. PALMER<br />

officiating. Burial will be in the Richland Center I.O.O.F. cemetry. Friends may call at the<br />

residence.<br />

Eliza Cool<br />

Mrs. Eliza COOL, 77, who lived with a daughter, Mrs. Cecil UMBAUGH, in Argos, died<br />

at the Landis nursing home in Argos at 12:30 p.m. Thursday. She had been ill six weeks.<br />

Born in Miami county Oct. 23, 1881, she was the daughter of Ferd and Mary LOSHER<br />

MOON. She was married in 1900 to John COOL, who dies in 1952.<br />

Mrs. Cool was a member of the Argos Christian church.<br />

Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Umbaugh; three sisters, Mrs. Aaron BERGER, Akron;<br />

Mrs. Clyde WALTERS and Mrs. Elzie BLACKBURN, both of Rochester, four grandchildren, and<br />

ten great-grandchildren.<br />

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Argos Christian church with the Rev. Clyde<br />

WALTERS of Rochester officiating, assisted by the Rev. Paul HALBERT of Argos. Burial will<br />

be in the New Oak Hill cemetery at Plymouth.<br />

Friends may call at the Umbaugh funeral home in Argos until one hour before services,<br />

when the body will be taken to the church.
