Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. CST in the Grace United Church of Christ,<br />
Culver, with the Rev. Maynard LITTLE of the Culver Bible church officiating. Burial will be in<br />
the Culver cemetery. Friends may call at the Easteday funeral home in Culver.<br />
John H. Fleming<br />
Funeral services were held today in Syracuse for John H. FLEMING. A former resident<br />
of Rochester, he died in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Rebecca KITSON, Syracuse, Saturday.<br />
Surviving are his wife and six daughters, Mrs. Agnes GILLIE and Miss Gertrude<br />
FLEMING, Ft. Wayne; Mrs. Velma LINSTROM, Greenville; Mrs. Rebecca KITSON, Mrs. Erin<br />
KITSON and Mrs. Edna JONES, all of Syracuse.<br />

Sherman W. Books<br />
Sherman W. BOOKS, 45, R.R. 1, Macy, died Monday at 10:45 a.m. at his home<br />
following a year’s illness.<br />
Born in Allen township, Miami county, on May 14, 1914, he was the son of McKinley<br />
and Hazel Mae TURNIPSEED BOOKS, who also reside on R.R. 1, Macy. A veteran of World<br />
War II, he had lived in the Macy community his entire life. He was a member of he Macy<br />
Christian church, Manitou VFW Post, American Legion of Peru and the Eagles lodge of Peru.<br />
Surviving, besides the parents, are four brothers, Ervin [BOOKS], Macy, George Richard<br />
[BOOKS], Macomb, Ill., Loren [BOOKS], R.R. 5, Peru, and Myrvel Dale [BOOKS], R.R. 1,<br />
Denver.<br />
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. CST Thursday at the McCain funeral home, U.S. 31<br />
and Ind. 16. <strong>The</strong> Rev. Richard SUMNER will officiate and burial will be in the Macy Plainview<br />
cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday.<br />

Charles W. Rans<br />
Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the <strong>Fulton</strong> Baptist church for Charles W.<br />
RANS, 66, <strong>Fulton</strong>, who died at 4 p.m. Wednesday after suffering a heart attack while mowing his<br />
lawn.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Rev. William KEITH will officiate at the rites and burial will be in the <strong>Fulton</strong><br />
cemetery. Friends may call at the Ditmire funeral home in <strong>Fulton</strong>.<br />
A retired farmer and a <strong>County</strong> Highway Department employee at the time of his death,<br />
Mr. Rans was born Sept. 3, 1893, in Wayne township. His parents were Terry and Mary<br />
LAMBERT RANS. He had spent most of his life in the <strong>Fulton</strong> community.<br />
His marriage was to Ethel FRY on Dec. 22, 1912.<br />
Surviving are the wife; one son, Ralph [RANS], R.R. 6, Rochester; one daughter, Mrs.<br />
Merl (Maxine) KISTLER, R.R. 6, Rochester; one brother, Fred [RANS], Delong; five<br />
grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. One brother, George [RANS] preceded him in<br />
death.
