Funeral services for Mrs. Nettie COSTELLO, 84, Metea, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at<br />

the Metea Baptist church with the Rev. Raymond SHELTON officiating. Burial will be in Indian<br />

Creek cemetery.<br />

Mrs. Costello died after a lingering illness Monday at 2:45 p.m. in Akron. <strong>The</strong> body will<br />

be taken from Sheetz funeral home at Akron to the home of a daughter, Mrs. William MANNING<br />

in Metea at 3 p.m. today and friends may call there until one hour before the funeral. <strong>The</strong> body<br />

will be taken then to the church to lie in state.<br />

Born March 31, 1875, near Grass Creek, Mrs. Costello was the daughter of James and<br />

Mary BAUMAN WARE. She was married in 1893 to Levi BUNDY, who died in 1911. Her<br />

second marriage was to Edward POWNALL, who died in 1939. She married P. A. COSTELLO,<br />

who survives, in 1950.<br />

Mrs. Costello was a member of the Metea Baptist church.<br />

Surviving besides the husband, are two daughters, Mrs. William (Olive BUNDY)<br />

MANNING, Metea, and Mrs. Louis (“B” BUNDY) TOBISON, Harvard, Ill.; two stepdaughters,<br />

Mrs. Gail (Genevieve POWNALL) DAVIS, Muncie, and Mrs. Winnie (COSTELLO) BRAATZ,<br />

Arvada, Colo; one stepson, Jerry COSTELLO, Fargo, N.D., one sister, Mrs. Eva BEATTIE,<br />

Rochester; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.<br />

Martha A. Gottschalk<br />

Martha A. SWANK GOTTSCHALK, 88, Green Oak, died at 4:10 a.m. today, at her<br />

home after a three months’ illness.<br />

Mrs. Gottschalk was born Aug. 14, 1870 in Miami county, the daughter of George and<br />

Fietta NOECKER SWANK. She was married Nov. 8, 1890, in <strong>Fulton</strong> county to William A.<br />

GOTTSCHALK, who died in December, 1953.<br />

Mrs. Gottschalk had lived most of her life in <strong>Fulton</strong> county, residing in Green Oak for the<br />

last 56 years. She was a member of the Rochester E.U.B. church.<br />

Surviving are four daughters, Miss May GOTTSCHALK, at home; Mrs Clarence<br />

(Bertha) MURPHY, Denver, Ind.; Mrs. Alice FOUTS, Rochester, and Mrs. Ralph (Laura)<br />

SHINDLER, R.R. 1, Rochester; two sons, Charles and Fred [GOTTSCHALK], both of R.R. 1,<br />

Rochester; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. <strong>The</strong> husband, a daughter, a grandson,<br />

three great-grandchildren, two sisters and a brother preceded her in death.<br />

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Rochester E.U.B. church<br />

by the Rev. F. I. WILMERT of Wabash, assisted by the Rev. Kenneth FOULKE, and burial will<br />

be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery here.<br />

<strong>The</strong> body will be taken from the Foster & Good funeral home to the Gottschalk residence<br />

where friends may call between 7 p.m. today and 11 a.m. Saturday when the body will be taken to<br />

the church.
