Surviving, besides the husband, are one son, Fred B. STROMINGER, with the U.S. Navy<br />

at Albuaquerque, N.M.; one daughter, Mrs. Omer THORENCE, Rochester; one sister, Mrs.<br />

George CLOSSEN, Benton Harbor, Mich.; two half-sisters, Miss Lucy WILHELM, North<br />

Manchester, and Mrs. Amy CRAMER, Wabash, and two grandchildren.<br />

Ralph Noyer<br />

Dr. Ralph NOYER, 75, former dean of the graduate school at Ball State Teachers college<br />

and a native of Rochester, died of a heart attack, Tuesday at 11:40 p.m. in his home in Muncie.<br />

Born Dec. 1, 1883, in Rochester, he was the son of Lawson and Ella<br />

WHITTENBERGER NOYER. He was married to Denise OLIVER, who survives.<br />

He retired from the dean’s post at Ball State in 1952 after servng since 1927. Since that<br />

time he has been on the staffs of Anderson and Oberlin colleges. A former teacher in Akron<br />

school, he earled a B.S. degree from Indiana university; a master’s from Columbia university and<br />

a doctorate from the University of Iowa.<br />

He was a member of the Universalist church at Muncie and of the Rotary club.<br />

Surviving, besides the wife, are one son, Robert [NOYER], Wayne, Pa.; one daughter,<br />

Mrs. Robert Van DUYN, Bangkok, Thailand; five grandchildren and one brother, Don NOYER,<br />

Akron.<br />

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Tom Haupert funeral home at Akron,<br />

with the Rev. D. L. SLAYBAUGH officiating. Burial will be in the Akron cemetery.<br />

Elva M. Nutt<br />

Mrs. Elva M. NUTT, 79, 416 South West street, Argos, died at 6 a.m. today at the Landis<br />

nursing home in Argos after a four-month illness.<br />

Born Sept. 11, 1880, near Argos, she was the daughter of Joshua and Catherine BUNCH.<br />

She had spent her lifetime in the Argos community. Her marriage was March 18, 1904, to Lewis<br />

NUTT, who died in 1949.<br />

Surviving are two sons, Kenneth [NUTT], Rochester, and Delbert [NUTT], R.R. 2,<br />

Akron; four grandchildren; one sister, Katherine BUNCH, R.R. 1, Argos; and two brothers,<br />

Clarence BUNCH, R.R. 1, Argos, and Joshua BUNCH, Hollywood, Cal.<br />

Funeral rites will be Monday at 2 p.m. in the Grossman funeral home at Argos with the<br />

Rev. Harry CLAYBAUGH officiating. Burial will be in the Reichter cemetery northeast of<br />

Rochester. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.<br />

Edward Lee Mow<br />

Edward Lee MOW, 40, died early this morning in his sleep at his home on R.R. 3,<br />

Rochester, 5 1/2 miles northwest of the city. He had been ill for the past five years.<br />

Born July 12, 1919, in Richland township, he was the son of Leo and Esther BURKETT<br />

MOW. He was married Jan. 14, 1938, at Koontz Lake to Margaret Alice ZUMBAUGH, who<br />

survives. Mr. Mow had spent his entire life in this community.<br />

A member of the First Presbyterian church and the Manitou Moose lodge, he was<br />

employed at Bendix Products in South Bend from 1942-58.<br />

Surviving, besides the wife, are two daughters; Shannon Sue [MOW], 10, and Sheridan<br />

Louise [MOW], 17, both at home; one son, Phillip Lee [MOW], a student at DePauw university;<br />

his mother, Mrs. Esther MOW, R.R. 5, Rochester; one sister, Mrs. Roy (Helen) McGRIFF, R.R
