John W. McGriff<br />

John W. McGRIFF, 49, Schererville, a former <strong>Fulton</strong> county resident, died in the hospital<br />

at Hines, Ill., at 6:30 a.m. Saturday after an illness of several weeks.<br />

He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward McGRIFF, who live on an Argos rural route near<br />

Richland Center. A member of the U.S. Navy during World War Two, Mr. McGriff was<br />

employed for a number of years as an assistant engineer at Inland Steel corporation in Indiana<br />

Harbor.<br />

Among the survivors, besides the parents, are an uncle, Albert McGRIFF, R.R. 2,<br />

Rochester; three cousins, Ray and Roy McGRIFF and Max O’BLENIS, all of near Rochester, and<br />

a sister, Edna McGRIFF, Hammond, who formerly lived in <strong>Fulton</strong> county.<br />

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Highland, Ind., with graveside rites and burial in<br />

the Richland Center cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.<br />

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist church for Brent L.<br />

BLACKETOR, 19, Rochester, who was killed Monday morning when he was crushed under a 25ton<br />

road grader on a highway construction project near Culver.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Rev. James RHOADS will officiate at the last rites and burial will be in the I.O.O.F.<br />

cemetery here. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today.<br />

Blacketor was employed for the summer as a truck driver for the McMahan Construction<br />

company. He resided wih his parents,Mr. and Mrs. Kline BLACKETOR, Jr., a mile east of the<br />

city on the Fort Wayne road. <strong>The</strong> youth would have been a sophomore at the University of<br />

Arizona, Tucson, this fall.<br />

Born March 1, 1940, at Santa Monica, Cal., he was the son of Kline and Mabel<br />

BARKMAN BLACKETOR. He was a member of the First Baptist church and of Phi Gamma<br />

Delta social fraternity at the University of Arizona.<br />

A 1958 graduate of Rochester high school, Brent had starred for three years as a regular<br />

guard and tackle for the RHS football team, also competing in track and basketball.<br />

Surviving are the parents; the paternal grandfather, Kline BLACKETOR, Sr., Rochester;<br />

and the maternal grandfather, Harley BARKMAN, Rochester.<br />

Myrtle M. Chapman<br />

Mrs. Myrtle M. CHAPMAN, 75, who resided northeast of Mentone, died Sunday at 5:30<br />

p.m. of a heart attack at her home. She had been in failing health two years.<br />

Last rites will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Reed funeral home at Mentone with the<br />

Rev. H. R. STEELE officiating. Burial will be in the Harrison Center cemetery northeast of<br />

Mentone. Friends may call at the funeral home.<br />

Born in Harrison township, Kosicuusko county, on Aug. 14, 1883, she was the daughter<br />

of Josiah and Rowena BAKER SENSIBAUGH. She was married July 3, 1905, at Winona Lake,<br />

to Earl CHAPMAN, who survives. <strong>The</strong> Chapmans formerly resided in the Burton and Talma<br />

communities, operating a store at Talma.<br />

Mrs. Chapman was a member of the Harrison Center E.U.B. church.<br />

Surviving, besides the husband, are two brothers, Hiner [SENSIBAUGH], Warsaw, and<br />

Curtis [SENSIBAUGH], Washington state, and one sister, Mrs. S. M. BAKER, Bethlehem, Pa.
