Elva Johnson<br />

Mrs. Elva JOHNSON, 80, widow of John JOHNSON and a native of <strong>Fulton</strong> county, died<br />

Tuesday morning at her home in Chicago.<br />

Mrs. Johnson was born Feb. 1, 1879, in <strong>Fulton</strong> county, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.<br />

Charles HOOVER. For many years she and her father operated Hoover’s grocery store on Main<br />

street in Rochester.<br />

Mrs. Johnson’s only survivor is a cousin, Mrs. Marie MILLER of Rochester.<br />

Funeral services will be conducted Friday and burial will be in Streator, Ill.<br />

Mrs. Clyde Biddinger<br />

Mrs. Clyde BIDDINGER, wife of Clyde BIDDINGER, former resident of Leiters Ford,<br />

died Wednesday morning at her home in East Chicago.<br />

<strong>The</strong> husband and several nieces and nephews survive.<br />

Funeral services will be conducted in East Chicago Saturday at 2 p.m. Kermit<br />

BIDDINGER, R.R. 5, Rochester, a nephew, his wife and Clarence HINTON, a brother-in-law<br />

plan to attend the funeral.<br />

Simon B. Zehner<br />

Simon B. ZEHNER, 80, R.R. 3, Argos, a retired farmer, died at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at<br />

his home, four miles west of Argos, of a heart ailment. Mr. Zehner has been ill two months.<br />

A lifelong resident of Marshall county, he was born Nov. 10, 1878, in Green township,<br />

the son of Michael and Melinda VOREIS ZEHNER. On June 10, 1900, he was married to Mina<br />

ZUMBAUGH, who died May 29, 1954. Mr. Zehner had lived in his present home for the last 50<br />

years.<br />

He was a member of the Argos Methodist church, a past master of Argos Masonic Lodge<br />

399 and a member of the Marshall <strong>County</strong> Actual Past Masters’ association.<br />

Surviving are three sons, Henry and Welland [ZEHNER], of R.R. 3, Argos, Zehner<br />

home, and Milo [ZEHNER], Akron, O.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a sister,<br />

Mrs. Newton CLEVENGER, Plymouth. A son, Orville [ZEHNER], died in 1951.<br />

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. E. J. PETERS of the<br />

Argos Methodist church at the Grossman funeral home, Argos, where friends may call after 7 p.m.<br />

today. Burial will be in New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Argos Masonic Lodge will conduct graveside rites.<br />

Flora May Delp<br />

Miss Flora May “Flo” DELP, 93, 1402 Main street, died about 11:15 o’clock this<br />

afternoon at Woodlawn hospital, where she had been taken Sunday after suffering a stroke. She<br />

had been in failing health for some time.<br />

Born in <strong>Fulton</strong> county May 30, 1865, the daughter of the Rev. Edward J. and Mary Ann<br />

MOON DELP, she had spent almost her entire life in <strong>Fulton</strong> and Miami counties. She came to<br />

Rochester from Miami county in 1881 and was the last of a family of 12 children.<br />

Miss Delp attended schools in the county and in Rochester, being graduated from Bryant<br />

and Stratton’s business college in Chicago. She was employed in Chicago until returning to<br />

Rochester in 1893.<br />

A member of the First Baptist church here since 1882, she had been active in various
