Jeanette Levi<br />

Miss Jeanette LEVI, 73, 215 West 11th street, died Sunday at 9:30 p.m. in Woodlawn<br />

hospital, where she had been admitted nine hours previously. She had been in ill health since<br />

Nov. 1.<br />

Born Aug. 23, 1886, in Rochester, she had spent her entire life here except for two years<br />

in Worcester, Mass. Her parents were Joseph and <strong>The</strong>resa HEINSHEIMER LEVI. A retired<br />

secretary, Miss Levi was employed for many years at the Rochester Bridge company.<br />

Miss Levi’s father, Joseph LEVI, was in the men’s clothing business here with Lee<br />

WILE. Her uncle, Meyer LEVI, for many years operated Levi Dry Goods Store in the space now<br />

occupied by the B & B store.<br />

Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Lester (Helen) ALLMAN, Hollywood, Fla.; one niece,<br />

Mrs. Joan GREENBERG, Washington, D.C., and several cousins, including Mrs. Clyde<br />

ENTSMINGER, Rochester.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Zimmerman Brothers funeral home is in charge of arrangements for last rites, which<br />

are incomplete.<br />

Paul T. Hurtig<br />

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home here<br />

for Paul T. HURTIG, 55, R.R. 3, Rochester, who died at 8 a.m. Sunday in Woodlawn hospital,<br />

where he had been a patient one week.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Rev. Delmar O. KRUEGER of the St. John Lutheran church will officiate and burial<br />

will be in the Rochester I.O.O.R. cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.<br />

Mr. Hurtig, who resided on East Lucas street, had been in failing health since 1950.<br />

Death was due to a cerebral hemorrhage.<br />

A native of Sweden, he was born in Stockholm on April 28, 1904, the son of Mr. and<br />

Mrs. Gust HURTIG. He came to Rochesrtr 16 years ago from chicago. His marriage was Aug.<br />

21, 1933, at Manchester, O., to Catherine HAMER, who survives.<br />

Mr. Hurtig was a carpenter and mechanic and was employed by the McMahan<br />

Construction company.<br />

Also surviving are one brother, Gust HURTIG, Chicago. one niece and one nephew.<br />

Cora E. Smith<br />

Cora E. SMITH, R.R. 1, Rochester, died at 9 p.m. Monday in Miller’s nursing home here<br />

where he had been a patient for the past week. A resident of Green Oak, Mr. Smith would have<br />

been 80 years old today.<br />

He had been in ill health for four years, seriously sick the last four months.<br />

Born Dec. 8, 1879, at Green Oak, he had spent his entire life in that community. A<br />

retired farmer, he was married Jan. 10, 1911, at Rochester, to Lillie GRIFFIN, who survives. He<br />

was the son of Royal Marion and Emma HERALD SMITH.<br />

Also surviving are one step-son, Charles W. PRESTON, Jackson, Mich.; one nephew,<br />

Walter D. TOWNSEND, Macy; one niece, Mrs. Martha TEEL, Chili, two granddaughters and<br />

four great-grandchildren.<br />

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Zimmerman Brothers funeral home with
