William BOWER, 87, died at 7 a.m. today at his home five miles southeast of Argos.<br />
<strong>The</strong> body is at the Grossman funeral home in Argos, where rites are pending.<br />

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at the Grossman funeral home, Argos,<br />
for William BOWER, 87, R.R. 1, Argos, retired farmer who died early Tuesday at his home after a<br />
two-year illness.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Rev. Eldon EVANS of the Walnut Church of the Brethren will officiate and burial<br />
will be in the Maple Grove cemetery, Argos.<br />
Mr. Bower was born Oct. 9, 1871, in <strong>Fulton</strong> county near Richland Center, the son of<br />
Josiah and Sarah Jane BITTER BOWER. He was married on Jan. 1, 1900, to Tootie M. HAWK,<br />
who survives.<br />
Mr. Bower had lived at his farm home five miles southeast of Argos for 45 years, moving<br />
there from Elkhart. Prior to moving to Elkhart, he had resided in Akron. He was a member of the<br />
Walnut Church of the Brethren.<br />
Surviving besides the widow, at home, is a son, Franklin J. [BOWER], South Bend.<br />
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.<br />
Henry Ghrist<br />
Henry GHRIST, 54, owner and operator of the Ghrist motel one-quarter mile north of<br />
Rochester on U.S. 31, died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at his home at the motel. Mr. Ghrist had been<br />
ill since September, and in serious condition for the last month.<br />
He was born Feb. 13, 1905, in Pittsfield, Ill., the son of John and Belle EVANS GHRIST.<br />
On Aug. 3, 1925, he was married in Morton, Ill., to Bernice MOORE, who survives.<br />
Mr. Ghrist came here nine years ago from Rochester, Mich., where he had operated the<br />
Ghrist Grill. He built the motel which bears his name upon his arrival here.<br />
Surviving besides the widow, at home, are two sons, John [GHRIST], Rochester, Mich.,<br />
and Joseph [GHRIST], Indianapolis; a daughter, Mrs. Nancy OUSLEY, Rochester, Ind., four<br />
grandchildren; two brothers, George and Ray [GHRIST], both of Pittsfield, Ill., and two sisters,<br />
Mrs. Jane CAMP, Rochester, Mich., and Mrs. Mary HELKEY, Pittsfield, Ill. One brother and one<br />
sister preceded him in death.<br />
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Zimmerman Brothers funeral<br />
home with the Rev. Kenneth FOULKE of the Rochester E.U.B. church in charge. Burial will be<br />
in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.<br />
Glen Hyslop<br />
Word has been received of the recent death in Kenosha, Wis., of Mrs. Henry C. (Glen)<br />
HYSLOP, 59, a native of Akron. She was the widow of the president, treasurer and manager of<br />
Barden’s department store in Kenosha.<br />
Mrs. Hyslop, vice president and secretary of Bardens from 1933 until her death, died<br />
after a long illness.<br />
Born Feb. 7, 1909, Mrs. Hyslop was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward S. ARTER.<br />
She spent her early life and received her education in Akron, graduating from Akron high school.<br />
Mrs. Hyslop entered nurse’s training in 1920 at Lakeside hospital in Chicago, where she
