Martha Babcock<br />

Mrs. Martha BABCOCK, 79, who has been residing at the Landis nursing home, Argos,<br />

for the past two years, died at 3 a.m. today. She had been seriously ill for two weeks.<br />

She was born Jan. 14, 1880, at Whilton, Wis.<br />

Two sons survive, E. L. BABCOCK, Lima, O., and Harold BABCOCK San Mateo, Cal.,<br />

besides two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.<br />

She is the former Martha WHALEN and was married to W. H. BABCOCK, who<br />

preceded her in death. She was a member of the Presbyterian church of Plymouth and the Order<br />

of the Eastern Star.<br />

Friends may call at the Grossman funeral home, Argos, after 7 p.m. today until 9 a.m.<br />

Monday. <strong>The</strong> Rev. Wallace MOORE of the First Presbyterian church, Plymouth, will conduct<br />

funeral services at 10 a.m. Monday at the graveside at Buck addition of the Old Oak Hill<br />

cemetery, Plymouth.<br />

Everett A. Beck<br />

Funeral services were conducted at noon Sunday in the Zimmerman Brothers funeral<br />

home for Everett Allie BECK, 74, 427 Indiana avenue, who died at 6:45 p.m. Friday in Woodlawn<br />

hospital. He had been ill since Wednesday.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Rev. Ray MILLS officiated at the rites and burial is to be made in Hinton, Okla.<br />

Born Sept. 11, 1884, in Bladen, O., Mr. Beck had lived here several months since coming<br />

from Garver, Okla. He was married June 25, <strong>1959</strong>, in Rochester to Ida RICHARDS. His previous<br />

marriages had been to Verna May HACKER and Etha Maria JONES.<br />

A section foreman for the Rock Island railroad for 55 years, he was a 32nd degree<br />

Madson, a member of the Eastern Star and of the Methodist church at Hinton.<br />

Surviving are the wife, at home; two sons, Harold BECK, Bethany, Okla., and Hubert<br />

Woodrow BECK, Watonga, Okla; three daughters, Mrs. Andrew HUNT, Ventura, Cal.; Mrs.<br />

Ralph GALBRAITH, Oklahoma City and Mrs. Vernon CUNNINGHAM, Breckenridge, Okla.<br />

Frank P. Lowman<br />

Frank P. LOWMAN, 85, former resident of Rochester, died Sunday at 12:25 p.m. at his<br />

home, 705 Leland avenue, South Bend. He had moved to South Bend about 30 years ago after a<br />

long residence in this city.<br />

Born Sept. 23, 1873, in Mexico, Ind., he was the son of Richard and Jane LOWMAN.<br />

His first marriage was to Nettie Fern HOLLOWAY, who died in 1922. He was married in 1924 to<br />

Maud HOKE, South Bend, who survives.<br />

Also surviving are one daughter; two grandchildren, Bill MYERS, Rochester, and Mrs.<br />

Otto BLACKETOR, Allen Park, Mich.; and one great-grandchild, Linda Kay MYERS,<br />

Indianapolis, daughter of the late James [Richard “Bud”] MYERS of Rochester, [who died Sep. 2,<br />

1952].<br />

Last rites will be Tuesday at 1:3 p.m. in the Welsheimer funeral home in South Bend.<br />

Burial will be in the Sumption Prairie cemetery near South Bend.
