Charles Robertson
Funeral services were held this afternoon in Fort Meade, Fla., for Charles ROBERTSON,
81, former Lake Manitou businessman, who died suddenly of a heart attack Wednesday night at
his home, 1115 Virginia avenue, Bartow, Fla.
Burial was in the Fort Meade (Fla.) cemetery.
Mr. Robertson for 42 years operated the Robertson Boat Landing on the north shore of
Lake Manitou, now known as the Chaney Boat Landing. He had made his year-around home in
Bartow since selling the local business six years ago.
He was born Dec. 25, 1877, at Liberty, Ind., and was married to Grace HARRISON of
Rochester. Surviving are the wife; two sons, Wayne and Donald [ROBERTSON], one grandson,
Charles [ROBERTSON]; one sister, Rose MARTIN, Indianapolis, and several nieces and
nephews.
Dr. John C. Glackman
Dr. John C. GLACKMAN, 78, Rochester physician and city health officer, was killed
Thursday afternoon in a head-on auto collision on the U.S. 31 bypass at Kokomo.
Dr. Glackman, died of a crushed chest and internal injuries in St. Joseph hospital at
Kokomo, two hours after the crash occurred at 3:25 p.m.
Also injured were Dr. Glackman’s daughter, Mrs. John ISAACS, 28, Culver, and her two
sons, Jackie ISAACS, 6, and Scotty ISAACS, 5. Mrs. Isaacs had scalp and right knee lacerations.
Jackie sustained bruises. Both have been released from the hospital.
However, Scotty ISAACS still is a hospital patient today with possible internal injuries.
The hospital said this morning that the child is “resting well.”
The driver of the other car, Richard T. MARSH, 37, 4856 Barlow drive, Indianapolis,
also was hospitalized with internal injuries and lacerations to the right knee and face.
According to state police and Howard county sheriff’s deputies, the northbound 1957
Plymouth sedan driven by Marsh swerved across the center line and into the path of the
southbound 1958 Mercury station wagon, driven by Glackman. The head-on collision occurred a
fourth-mile south of the Chrusler Corporation transmission plant on the U.S. 31 bypass.
Marsh told police he did not know how the accident happened but officials were
investiating the possibility that a tire blow-out might have caused the Marsh car to swerve into the
path of Glackman’s vehicle. No charges were filed. Both autos were demolished.
Marsh was enroute to work at the Chrysler plant. Dr. Glackman, his daughter and two
grandsons were enroute to Rockport, on the Ohio river in Spencer county, to attend the high
school graduation ceremony of Sharon GLACKMAN, Dr. Glackman’s granddaughter.
The body was returned today from Kokomo to the Boldinghouse funeral home in
Rockport. Funeral services are incomplete, but tentatively have been set for Sunday afternoon in
Rockport.
