was employed for many years here as a bank clerk.<br />
Surviving are several nieces and nephews as well as great-great-nieces and nephews.<br />
<strong>The</strong> body has been removed to the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home. Arrangements<br />
are incomplete.<br />
Arthur V. Smith<br />
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Harrison funeral home in Kewanna for<br />
Arthur V. SMITH, 77, retired Kewanna businessman who died Thursday noon in Woodlawn<br />
hospital here.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Rev. Charles W. COOK will officiate and burial will be in the Kewanna I.O.O.F.<br />
cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.<br />
Mr. Smith was born in Kewanna June 28, 1881, the son of Joseph and Florence BURNS<br />
SMITH. He was a member of the Reformed church. His wife, Elba [SMITH], died June 2, 1957.<br />
Surviving are a son, Carl [SMITH], Kewanna; one grandson and one sister, Mrs. Alpha<br />
HOESEL, Monterey.<br />
Thomas S. Perdue<br />
Thomas S. “Dad” PERDUE, 80, a former resident of Rochester, died at 8:25 a.m.<br />
Thursday at the home of a son in Arkansas. Mr. Perdue had been ill three years. He leaves 106<br />
descendants.<br />
He was born Nov. 16, 1869, in Roanoke county, Va. While residing in Rochester, Mr.<br />
Perdue made his home with a son, Henry [PERDUE], 500 East 14th street.<br />
Among other survivors are two sons, Walter [PERDUE], Roanoke, Va., and Wilson<br />
[PERDUE], Roland, Ark.; two daughters, Anna [PERDUE], Roland, Ark., and Velma [PERDUE],<br />
who lives in Texas; forty-one grandchildren and sixty great-grandchildren.<br />
Mr. Perdue’s wife died in 1933, and two sons also preceded him in death. Mr. and Mrs.<br />
Henry PERDUE had visited him in Arkansas two weeks ago.<br />
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday and burial will take place in Roland, Ark.<br />
Oliver E. Ferree<br />
Oliver E. FERREE, 77, a native of Rochester, died Thursday at his home in Santa<br />
Monica, Cal., after an illness of two months.<br />
Mr. Ferree, a retired railroadman, was born Aug. 23, 1881. He was a member of the<br />
Rochester Christian church, Rochester Chapter No. 90, Royal Arch Masons and Rochester Lodge<br />
No. 79 of the Masons.<br />
Mr. Ferree had moved from Rochester to California about 10 years ago, following his<br />
retirement. His widow is among the survivors. Funeral services will be conducted in Santa<br />
Monica Tuesday.
