How it will look when fully met:
Some students return to visits and volunteers. Many also
attend school events with younger siblings. The site is used as
secondary bus stop. Feeder and magnet middle schools visit
with 6th grade students to discuss the programs they offer
and life as a middle school student. Some students also
"shadow" or visit middle schools during the school day.
Walt Whitman staff maintains open communication with
families on a monthly basis, hold annual open houses, and
continue to involve community partners in education. Past
students are invited to volunteer in our building as well as
mentoring students on the preparedness for middle and high
school.

Open House was held September 22, 2011. Parents,
community members and past students were invited to met
and greet teachers and staff.
Meet the Teacher was also held in August of 2011. The
community and other stakeholders were able to meet the
staff.
2. Data folders will be created including student data cards. This information will be updated
monthly and passed on each year to the next grade level teacher.
