• Johnson County saw a 7% decrease in <strong>the</strong> number of farms between <strong>the</strong> years of 2002<br />

– 2007. Total land in farms decreased by 23%, and <strong>the</strong> average size of farms<br />

decreased by 17% (see Table 3.8). With <strong>the</strong> decrease in agricultural land comes a<br />

decrease in agricultural infestation. However, domesticated plants are still at risk, which<br />

include nurseries, and landscapes in residential and commercial areas.<br />

counties in Kansas. While <strong>the</strong> amount of land used for agricultural purposes decrease<br />

between <strong>the</strong> years 2002 – 2007, <strong>the</strong> number of farms increased, which lends itself to a<br />

higher risk of crop or animal infestation.<br />

agricultural infestation in <strong>the</strong> county.<br />
