Severe Repetitive Loss<br />

The Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2004 identified ano<strong>the</strong>r category of repetitive loss,<br />

categorized as Severe Repetitive Loss (SRL). SRL properties are defined it as “a single family<br />

property (consisting of one-to-four residences) that is covered under flood insurance by <strong>the</strong><br />

NFIP and has incurred flood-related damage for which four or more separate claims payments<br />

have been paid under flood insurance coverage with <strong>the</strong> amount of each claim payment<br />

exceeding $5,000 and with cumulative amounts of such claims payments exceeding $20,000; or<br />

for which at least two separate claims payments have been made with <strong>the</strong> cumulative amount of<br />

such claims exceeding <strong>the</strong> reported value of <strong>the</strong> property. As of October 1, 2012, <strong>the</strong>re are 3<br />

validated insured residential properties in <strong>the</strong> planning area that meet <strong>the</strong> qualifications of SRL<br />

and <strong>the</strong> requirements to be considered for possible mitigation activities under FEMA’s SRL<br />

criteria. Table 3.79 provides additional information on losses associated with <strong>the</strong>se 3<br />

properties.<br />
