Land Use and Development Trends<br />

In 2010, <strong>the</strong> population of Fairway was 3,882, a difference of 50 people since <strong>the</strong> last plan<br />

update. However, this is a decrease of 70 people since <strong>the</strong> census of 2000. Land area of<br />

<strong>the</strong> city is 1.14 square miles, and population density in 2010 was 3,405 people per square mile.<br />

Technical and Fiscal Resources<br />

Financial tools or resources that <strong>the</strong> city could potentially use to help fund mitigation activities<br />

include <strong>the</strong> following:<br />

• Community Development Block Grants<br />

• Capital improvements project funding<br />

• Johnson County Stormwater Management Program<br />

• Taxes for specific purposes<br />

• Fees for water or sewer<br />

• Impact fees for new development<br />

• Debt through general obligation bonds<br />

• Debt through special tax bonds<br />

• Withholding spending in hazard prone areas<br />
