It became incorporated in 1949 and the City is known for its trees and parks. The City is governed by a Mayor and eight City Council members. Consolidated Fire District No.2 provides fire protection services for the City. City departments include the following: 2.21

However, this is a decrease of 70 people since the census of 2000. Land area of the city is 1.14 square miles, and population density in 2010 was 3,405 people per square mile.
