Technical and Fiscal Resources<br />

Johnson County provides <strong>the</strong>ir technical resources except Fire District #2 has <strong>the</strong>ir own grant<br />

writer. Fiscal resources include <strong>the</strong> ability to incur capital improvements project funding, levy<br />

taxes, and incur debt through general obligation and special tax bonds.<br />

Existing Plans and Policies<br />

The Public Protection Classification (ISO) rating is a three. The fire district operates under <strong>the</strong><br />

County’s ordinances, codes, and plans. The fire district provides educational fire safety <strong>material</strong><br />

to <strong>the</strong> public and is a CERT participant.<br />

Johnson County Fire District No. 3.<br />

Fire District No. 3 serves Northwestern Johnson County and merged with <strong>the</strong> De Soto Fire<br />

District on January 1, 2010.<br />

Technical and Fiscal Resources<br />

Fire District No. 3 has two stations with 10 full-time, 17 part-time, and 20 volunteer fire fighters.<br />

Fiscal resources are <strong>the</strong> ability to levy taxes and <strong>the</strong> ability to incur debt through general<br />

obligation bonds to be used on <strong>the</strong> fire station buildings and <strong>the</strong> purchase of apparatuses.<br />

Existing Plans and Policies<br />

The Public Protection Classification (ISO) rating is a six out of 10 in <strong>the</strong> hydrated areas and a<br />

nine rating in <strong>the</strong> non-hydrated areas of <strong>the</strong> jurisdiction. The district is engaged in providing fire<br />

prevention presentations at USD 232 schools and issues burn permits for residents.<br />
