responders (fire, police, ambulance)<br />

are aware of <strong>the</strong> chemicals through<br />

<strong>the</strong> Tier II reporting and facility tours,<br />

specific procedures are not shared<br />

between <strong>the</strong> agencies. T<strong>here</strong>fore<br />

during an emergency, expectations<br />

could likely differ between <strong>the</strong><br />

responding agencies and <strong>the</strong> facility<br />

personnel.<br />

Develop/Update Debris Management<br />

Plan to include Memorandums Of<br />

Understanding (MOU’s) for debris<br />

removal between Wyandotte County<br />

and outside / local agencies with<br />

equipment available for this,<br />

establish collection areas and free<br />

mulch program. During most<br />

wea<strong>the</strong>r events some type of debris<br />

resulting from <strong>the</strong> event is usually<br />

produced. During many large events,<br />

a tremendous amount of debris is<br />

often generated blocking roads and<br />

causing extensive damages.<br />

Management, removal and<br />

disposition of this debris requires<br />

careful preplanning, effective<br />

responses and, quite often, written<br />

MOUs with o<strong>the</strong>r agencies. Develop<br />

/ Update an effective Debris<br />

Management Plan for Wyandotte<br />

County to include: MOU’s with o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

agencies, jurisdictions and preidentified<br />

contractors --Identification<br />

of several pre-selected debris<br />

collection sites across <strong>the</strong> --county<br />

for use during <strong>the</strong>se events (with<br />

MOU’s if required) --Establishment of<br />

a countywide “Free Mulch Program”<br />

* Review / Update <strong>the</strong> countywide<br />

Debris Management Plan and all<br />

MOUs on a regularly scheduled<br />

basis.<br />

Create and train volunteer search &<br />

rescue teams to support Professional<br />

First Responders. In large searches<br />

or o<strong>the</strong>r large emergencies,<br />

professional First Responders<br />

resources may need to be supported<br />
