<strong>ModelSim</strong> <strong>SE</strong> User’s <strong>Manual</strong><br />

In 6.0, the Main window becomes the primary interface to the tool, providing convenient<br />

access to design libraries <strong>and</strong> objects, source files, debugging comm<strong>and</strong>s, simulation status<br />

messages, etc. Here is what the Main window looks like the very first time you start the<br />

tool:<br />

Previous versions of <strong>ModelSim</strong> used a window layout system for organizing the display of<br />

its debug windows. In 6.0, many of the windows have become "panes," embedded in the<br />

Main window view. However, you can choose to unembed, or undock, these panes so that<br />

they become st<strong>and</strong>-alone windows. The icon used to undock a pane appears in the upper<br />

right h<strong>and</strong> corner of the pane, <strong>and</strong> looks like this:<br />
