Population/study<br />

Infants from South West Thames<br />

(UK) region were randomly selected<br />

from all births, except home births.<br />

The subjects were randomly allocated<br />

an age at which to be interviewed, in<br />

such a way as to ensure that they had<br />

a similar age distribution to that<br />

previously described <strong>for</strong> SIDS cases.<br />

The median age was 90 days (range<br />

30-302 days). The study ran from 14<br />

October 1990 to 13 October 1991.<br />
