7,289 healthy infants. 14,366<br />

Maternal and Child Health Clinics in<br />

Hong Kong in a 2 week period in 1993.<br />

Authors developed a six point<br />

engorgement scale to determine level<br />

of engorgement, mothers were asked<br />

to report their breast changes twice<br />

daily during the first 1-14 days<br />

postpartum.<br />

A researcher visited the mothers in<br />

hospital and in the first and second<br />

weeks postpartum to ensure that the<br />

mother was completing the <strong>for</strong>ms<br />

correctly.<br />

Intervention group= 74<br />

Control group= 137<br />

Face-to-face interviews and<br />

breastfeeding assessments occurred in<br />

the maternity ward and at day 7 and 30.<br />

3161 of sample were < 6 months.<br />
