breastfeeding initiation and duration while one cohort study reported no association with
either initiation or duration.
An association between maternal education and breastfeeding outcome was not consistently
found across all studies with approximately one third finding no association. However, in
those studies reporting an association the majority reported a positive association between
higher level of maternal education and breastfeeding initiation and duration amongst
Australian and women from other western countries, but a negative association for women in
Asian countries such as China.
