births, except home births.<br />

The subjects were randomly allocated an<br />

age at which to be interviewed, in such a<br />

way as to ensure that they had a similar<br />

age distribution to that previously<br />

described <strong>for</strong> SIDS cases. The median<br />

age was 90 days (range 30-302 days).<br />

The study ran from 14 October 1990 to<br />

13 October 1991.<br />
