1. The military capability of the armed forces has been strengthened in<br />

terms of numbers and ammunitions. Moreover, many new military<br />

camps have also been established. As reported in the last session of the<br />

Assembly, the military expenditure is being met from the budget of the<br />

armed forces without incurring any expense to the plan budget.<br />

2. In order to maintain law and order, the Royal Bhutan Police has also<br />

been strengthened.<br />

3. In the event of an emergency, there will be great difficulty in traveling<br />

from southern Bhutan. Therefore, the national highways have been made<br />

pliable at all times to ensure safe transport facilities.<br />

4. As there is risk involved in traveling through Indian territory, new rest<br />

houses have been established for the convenience of passengers<br />

traveling within the country.<br />

5. Arrangements have been made to provide necessary food provisions to<br />

people in the high-risk areas and to distribute petroleum products in the<br />

eastern Dzongkhags.<br />

6. Preparations are being made to provide shelter and other facilities in<br />

case people have to be evacuated from their villages in the event of a<br />

military emergency.<br />

7. As there will be many casualties in the event of a military confrontation,<br />

emergency medical units have been established.<br />

8. Contingency plans are regularly reviewed to ensure the security of the<br />

people in the event of a military engagement.<br />
