was also a result of the tireless and unfailing efforts made by the members of the<br />

Lhengye Zhungtshog. They expressed their hope that the ULFA militants will<br />

remove four of their camps by December this year in keeping with the agreed<br />

minutes of the meeting held with them. However, if they do not implement the<br />

agreement given by them, the Royal Government should not continue looking<br />

for a peaceful solution to remove the militants from Bhutanese territory. The<br />

Chimis also requested His Majesty to limit his visits to the high security risk<br />

areas. The long reign and continued leadership of His Majesty the King is of<br />

utmost importance for ensuring the security and sovereignty of the country and<br />

continued peace and happiness for the Bhutanese people.<br />

The Chukha Dzongda submitted that, as per the resolution of the 78 th Session of<br />

National Assembly, a series of meetings had been convened with the<br />

Government employees, business communities and people in the Dzongkhags to<br />

explain the measures that had been decided to deal with the problem posed by<br />

the militants, and safeguard the security of the country.<br />

In Phuentsholing, the Government employees and business community had<br />

expressed their deep concern over the security threat facing the country and<br />

pledged to protect and ensure the security of Phuentsholing town. The people in<br />

the villages are also deeply concerned over the problem and have pledged to do<br />

everything possible to safeguard the security of the country. They also appealed<br />

to His Majesty the King to cut down the royal visits to the high security risk<br />

areas.<br />

Recognizing the importance of safeguarding the security of the country the<br />

people have called for militia training to be imparted to all able-bodied men. He<br />

said that a four point strategy should be pursued to resolve the security problem<br />

facing the country. Firstly, the outcome of the recent meeting between the<br />

Government and the ULFA leaders allows the door to a peaceful solution to be<br />
