Zhungtshog to direct the Government to implement the National Assembly<br />

resolutions on the issue of proselytization to ensure lasting peace and harmony<br />

in the country. The National Commission for Cultural Affairs, the Central Monk<br />

Body and the religious institutions should introduce regular programmes that<br />

will explain the fundamental precepts and principles of the Dharma for the<br />

benefit of the people. For its part, the Government should extend all necessary<br />

support and resources for the implementation of these programmes.<br />

The National Assembly decided that all concerned shall properly implement the<br />

previous resolutions passed by the house on the issue of proselytization in the<br />

country.<br />

XII. The Industrial Property Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan, 2001<br />

A copy of the draft Industrial Property Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan was<br />

distributed to the Assembly members towards the end of the 78 th session of the<br />

National Assembly held last year. Further a copy of the draft Act that had been<br />

further edited, corrected and dated 2001 was again distributed to the National<br />

Assembly members on June 29, 2001 and deliberations on the Act by the<br />

Assembly started on July 13, 2001.<br />

The Trade and Industry Minister, in the introduction of the Act, said that the<br />

development of the industrial sector is vital if the Bhutanese people are to<br />

achieve self-reliance, develop in the socio-economic areas and increase<br />

employment opportunities. This is why the Royal Government has formulated<br />

policies and many strategies and programs for the development of industries in<br />

the country. Similarly on the legal front if the industrial resources and the<br />

property were made secure, it would encourage growth and provide<br />

opportunities for the adoption of new technology in the Industrial sector of the<br />

country. Furthermore, Bhutanese industrialists and businesspersons would be<br />
