Another Chimi from Samtse Dzongkhag pointed out that despite the small size
of the country, the people of Bhutan have been very fortunate to enjoy peace
and happiness due to the merits accumulated from the practice of the Buddha
Dharma and the enlightened leadership of His Majesty the King. The issue of
proselytization raised by the Chukha Chimi is a very serious issue which needs
to be given due attention and consideration. Buddhism and Hinduism are the
two religions practiced in Bhutan. If more people are converted to Christianity
in the towns and villages through slander and material inducement it will lead to
people come together in unity and serve the country when it is going through a
difficult period, the Chimi said. The public of Samtse are greatly concerned
over this issue. Despite all our efforts in our communities and geogs we have
not been able to contain this problem. We, therefore, request the Government to
help us bring a stop to proselytization.
The Chimis of Dagana and Samdrup Jongkhar Dzongkhags said that the
propagators of the Christian faith have shown no respect for the existing
