that it has become a majestic icon with great splendour. As commanded by His<br />

Majesty the King, five statues each of Guru Rinpoche, Tshepame, Guru Dorji<br />

Drolo, Gongdu and Phurpa Yabyum each measuring a minimum of fifteen feet<br />

will soon be built inside the Droley Lhakhang.<br />

The total cost of reconstruction of Paro Taktshang so far has amounted to<br />

Nu.48.5 million. This includes expenditure incurred for constructing a bailey<br />

bridge over Pachu, a four-kilometer road, and a 1.6-kilometer cableway at<br />

Ramthangkha. Besides, 2,467 tola of gold equivalent to 26 kilograms has been<br />

purchased at a cost of Nu.14 million.<br />

Many people have noticed auspicious omens and signs of the reconstruction of<br />

Taktshang Lhakhang. The reconstruction works have also been progressing very<br />

well as planned and prayed for. Although over hundred labourers have been<br />

working in four very precarious sites of the Lhakhang, no single accident has<br />

occurred so far. No situation of difficulty and inconvenience has also arisen.<br />

The Hon’ble Minister said that the people of Bhutan should pray that the<br />

inauguration of the Taktshang Lhakhang could be held on the 10 th Day of the 9 th<br />

month next year.<br />

7. Appreciation for Non-formal Education<br />

The Dagana Chimi said that the people are very thankful for the educational<br />

opportunity provided by the Royal Government through non-formal education<br />

to those who could not go to school during their childhood. Although there were<br />

only three centers for Non-formal Education at the beginning of the 8 th Five-<br />

Year Plan, there were 17 centres in Dagana today. This has brought about<br />

immense benefit particular to women who were taught the importance of health<br />

and sanitation, and maintenance of social harmony. For this, and also for the<br />

opportunity of learning and promoting Dzongkha by the people who speak<br />

different languages in the country, the Chimi extended the gratitude of the<br />
