Dratshang and different Goendey led by His Holiness for a period of 13 days. At
the same time, Drolma was recited 100,000 times and all the volumes of Kanjur
and Tenjur were also thoroughly recited. A comprehensive Sang and Serkem
offerings were made to the protective and tutelary deities. The ritual altogether
cost approximately Nu.6,800,000.
Leygoen Jaro Dongchen, Yeshey Goenpo and Palden Lhamo are the three
guardian deities of Bhutan. However, no dungkhor dedicated to them exists in
the country. His Holiness commanded that it would be highly beneficial if such
a dungkhor were installed in every Dzongkhags. According to this command, a
total of Nu.2,000,000 have been given to the Ministry of Home Affairs for
installing 20 dungkhors in 20 Dzongkhags. The remaining amount of
Nu.946,50,000 have been submitted to His Majesty the King as a humble and
wholehearted contribution of the business community and as a token of their
loyalty and dedication to the country. Although His Majesty commanded that
there is no policy for the Royal Government to accept such contributions from
the business and private individuals, the money has been offered after insistent
pleading by the business community.
The Chimi expressed the gratitude of the BCCI to His Holiness, Gelong, Anims
and Gomchens of the monastic community and to the coordinators of the Kurim
whose combined efforts made it into a success that went beyond expectation.
Besides those involved in the performance of the Kurim at Mongar, he also
extended gratitude of the religious community, the government, the business
community and the people to those who performed Kurim in Lhakhangs and
Goendey in the area.
Bhutan is a very religious country. Owing to the faith and devotion of people
from all walks of life in the Triple Gem, everyone has been able to live in peace
and happiness so far. Furthermore, people are able to live with increased
prosperity every year owing firstly to the blessing of the Triple Gem, and
