The Haa Chimi expressed the gratitude of the people of Haa to the armed forces<br />

for safeguarding the national security with complete loyalty and dedication.<br />

Under the dynamic leadership of His Majesty the King, the three armed forces<br />

have placed their loyalty to Tsa-Wa-Sum above everything upholding the sacred<br />

values of trust and honour in ensuring national security. The people hoped that<br />

they would remain steadfast in their loyalty and dedication and serve the<br />

country when it is going through a very difficult and turbulent time.<br />

11. Appreciation for Sipa Chidoe and Kurim<br />

The Chimis of Mongar, Paro, Trashigang, Trongsa, Haa, Dagana, Punakha,<br />

Lhuntse, Bumthang, Trashi Yangtse and Tsirang submitted that His Holiness<br />

the Je Khenpo led the Zhung Dratshang, Rabdey and Gomdey in holding the<br />

Sipa Chidoe and Damsi Torma Kurim. The Kurim is traditionally held once<br />

every 12 years at Punakha Dzong. Besides this, it has not been held in any part<br />

of the country so far. It was co-coordinated by the President of the Bhutan<br />

Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and sponsored by the business community<br />

in the country. Once the decision was taken to held it at Mongar, the Dratshang<br />

Lhentshog and relevant people involved in its coordination had it prepared<br />

miraculously within a short period of time, and His Holiness the Je Khenpo<br />

blessed the occasion. The people of the neighbouring Dzongkhags had the<br />

opportunity of seeing and hearing His Holiness. Such sacred and powerful<br />

Kurim have been intended to appease the highest object of refuge and worship<br />

in heavens, Kuntu Zangpo, and the lowest of beings who are the object of<br />

charity and almsgiving. The good fortune and success of the event would serve<br />

to diffuse the tense situation in the country. The people had the opportunity of<br />

making offerings, seeking refuge and praying wholeheartedly for the everlasting<br />

well being of His Majesty the King and the Royal Family, and for continuation<br />

of perpetual peace and prosperity of the people of Bhutan. The fruitful outcome<br />

of the talks held between the Royal Government and ULFA has also been the<br />

blessing of the Kurim. The Chimis said that the people of Bhutan particularly<br />
