forging a good working relationship with the federal government, regardless of<br />

which political party is in power.<br />

The exp<strong>and</strong>ed Assembly should ensure a better coverage of the issues <strong>and</strong><br />

moreequitablerepresentationofthepopulation.ItisnotknownwhethertheACT<br />

government will act on the second recommendation of the Reference Group on the<br />

Size of the Legislative Assembly <strong>and</strong> exp<strong>and</strong> the Assembly to 35 members in the<br />

future.<br />

Given the demographics <strong>and</strong> political inclination of the ACT’s population, it<br />

is likely that the ACT government will remain progressive in its policy outlook;<br />

however, the issue of territory rights remains unresolved.<br />
