About the author<br />

Dr Marija Taflaga is a lecturer at the <strong>Australian</strong> National University. Her primary<br />

research focus is <strong>Australian</strong> politics in comparative context, including political<br />

parties <strong>and</strong> parliament, the career paths of political elites <strong>and</strong> <strong>Australian</strong> political<br />

history. She has undertaken research fellowships at the <strong>Australian</strong> Parliamentary<br />

Library <strong>and</strong> the <strong>Australian</strong> Museum of Democracy at Old Parliament House. She<br />

has also worked in the <strong>Australian</strong> Parliamentary Press Gallery as a researcher for<br />

The Sydney Morning Herald <strong>and</strong> The Age.<br />
