About the authors<br />

Dr Thomas S. Wilkins is a senior lecturer in international security at the University<br />

of Sydney, where he teaches <strong>Australian</strong> foreign <strong>and</strong> security policy, <strong>and</strong> a senior<br />

research fellow at the Japan Institute for International Affairs. He specialises in<br />

<strong>Australian</strong> foreign policy <strong>and</strong> security issues in the Asia-Pacific region, <strong>and</strong> has<br />

published on these subjects in journals such as Review of International Studies,<br />

<strong>Australian</strong> Journal of Political Science <strong>and</strong> <strong>Australian</strong>JournalofInternationalAffairs,<br />

among others. He is currently an associate editor for the journal Pacific Affairs <strong>and</strong><br />

co-area editor for Japanese Studies journal (Australia).<br />

Dr Nicholas Bromfield is a lecturer in public policy at the University of Sydney. He<br />

researches <strong>and</strong> teaches broadly in the areas of political science <strong>and</strong> international<br />

relations. His recent publications have been featured in the <strong>Australian</strong> Journal of<br />

Political Science <strong>and</strong> the <strong>Australian</strong> Journal of <strong>Politics</strong> <strong>and</strong> History.<br />
