In the face of this situation, the municipal elite attempted to
strengthen and extend a royal jurisdiction that was not identifi
ed with the monarchical will, but rather with a homogenous
jurisdictional base for each municipality’s region of infl uence.
Simultaneously, they aimed to impose a high political incidence
that brought a determined global vision of Catalonia in
its wake.
