2. You want to perform a clean install of a Windows XP Professional computer running
Windows NT Workstation 3.51. The computer contains a Pentium III processor running
at 700 MHz, 32 MB of RAM, a 4 GB hard disk, a 24x CD-ROM drive, a mouse, a keyboard,
and an SVGA video subsystem. The hard disk is formatted as two 2 GB partitions,
both formatted with the FAT file system with 650 MB of free space. All the
hardware is in the Windows Catalog. Your desired results are to
■ Replace the existing operating system with Windows XP Professional.
■ Choose a file system that enables you to ensure the greatest level of security possible.
■ Rejoin the computer to the domain.
■ Retain the existing applications and user settings.
■ Allow for more efficient use of hard disk space by creating a single 4 GB partition.
You perform the following tasks:
■ While logged on to the existing installation of Windows NT Workstation 3.51, run
Winnt32.exe from the Windows XP Professional installation CD-ROM and choose
to perform a New Installation.
■ Answer the prompts during installation, but make certain to convert the existing
boot partition to NTFS.
■ When prompted, type the appropriate domain name, and then add the computer
account to the domain by providing logon credentials for an account belonging to
the Domain Administrators group.
■ After Setup completes, open the Computer Management console, and then open
the Disk Management snap-in and perform the appropriate actions to convert the
second partition to NTFS.
Which goals does your proposal achieve? Choose three correct answers.
A. Ensures that the computer meets the minimum hardware requirements for running
Windows XP Professional
B. Replaces the existing installation of Windows NT Workstation 3.51 with a new
installation of Windows XP Professional
C. Chooses a file system that enables you to ensure the greatest level of security possible
D. Rejoins the computer to the domain
