Mounted volume paths have a different icon in Windows Explorer, as shown in Figure<br />

10-7, and are represented by the identifier when viewed at a command<br />

prompt, as shown in Figure 10-8.<br />

The following list contains some additional information about drive letters and paths:<br />

■ You cannot assign multiple drive letters to a single volume.<br />

■ You cannot assign the same drive letter to multiple volumes on the same computer.<br />

■ You can mount a volume into multiple paths simultaneously.<br />

■ A volume can exist without a drive letter or mount path assigned; however, the<br />

volume will not be accessible by applications.
