5. In the Device manager window, expand the Ports (COM & LPT) category, rightclick<br />

the parallel port—almost always named Printer Port (LPT1)—and click<br />

Properties.<br />

Usage drop-down list, select Do Not Use This Device (Disable). Click OK.<br />

7. In the Device Manager window, note that the icon for Printer Port (LPT1) has a red<br />

“x” on it, indicating that the device is disabled. Right-click the Printer Port (LPT1)<br />

and click Properties.<br />

8. In the Printer Port (LPT1) Properties dialog box, on the General tab, in the Device<br />

Usage drop-down list, select Use This Device (Enable). Click OK.<br />
