6. Close the Add Or Remove Programs window.<br />

7. In the Control Panel window, click Printers And Other Hardware.<br />

8. In the Printers And Other Hardware window, click Printers And Faxes. Notice that<br />

a new printer named Fax has been added.<br />

Note If there is no Fax icon, click Install A Local Fax Printer to add one.<br />

After installing the Fax Service, a new icon named Fax appears in the Control Panel<br />

window. You can use this tool to add, monitor, and troubleshoot fax devices, including<br />

fax modems and fax printers.<br />

You can use the following procedure to configure how Windows sends and receives<br />

faxes:<br />

1. From the Start menu, select Printers And Faxes.<br />

2. In the Printers And Faxes window, double-click the Fax icon.<br />

3. On the Welcome To The Fax Configuration Wizard page, click Next.<br />

4. On the Sender Information page, enter information in the following text boxes:<br />

Your Full Name, Fax Number, E-Mail Address, Title, Company, Office Location,<br />

Department, Home Phone, Work Phone, Address, and Billing Code. When you are<br />

done, click Next.<br />

5. On the Completing The Fax Configuration Wizard page, click Finish. Windows XP<br />

Professional displays the Fax Console.<br />

Tip To configure a fax, click Configure Fax on the Tools menu of the Fax Console. To open<br />

the Fax Console, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to Communications,<br />

point to Fax, and then click Fax Console.<br />

Windows XP Professional provides the Fax Console to help you manage and troubleshoot<br />

faxes.<br />

To manage and troubleshoot faxes, complete the following steps:<br />

1. From the Start menu, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to Communications,<br />

point to Fax, and then click Fax Console.<br />

2. Windows XP Professional displays the Fax Console, as shown in Figure 6-7.
