Objective 2.5
Manage and Troubleshoot
Access to and Synchronization of
Offline Files
Enterprise workers rely on the network to access information and exchange files.
Users who always work at the office take this access for granted—but roaming users
cannot. When users with portable computers disconnect from the network, their
access to business-critical information is also disconnected. To ease the pain of being
away from the network, users can synchronize important files to their portable computers
for offline use.
Users control when their computer synchronizes files using the Synchronization Manager.
This tool is useful for troubleshooting offline file problems because it displays
when folders were last synchronized. It can also be used to configure offline files for
synchronization when users log on or log off, while the computer is idle, or at specific
times.
