Setting up and sharing a network printer makes it possible for multiple users to utilize<br />

it. You can set up a local printer that is connected directly to the print server, or you<br />

can set up a network interface printer that is connected to the print server over the network.<br />

In larger organizations, most printers are network interface printers.<br />

After this lesson, you will be able to<br />

■ Add and share a local printer.<br />

■ Add and share a network interface printer.<br />

■ Add a Line Printer Remote (LPR) port.<br />

■ Configure client computers to print to a network printer.<br />

How to Add and Share a Local Printer<br />

Lesson 2 Setting Up Network Printers<br />

The steps for adding a local printer or a network interface printer are similar. You use<br />

the following steps to add a local printer:<br />

1. Log on as Administrator or with a user account that is a member of the Administrators<br />

group on the print server.<br />

2. From the Start menu, click Printers And Faxes.<br />

3. In the Printers And Faxes window, in the Printer Tasks section, click Add A Printer<br />

to start the Add Printer Wizard.<br />

4. On the Welcome To The Add Printer Wizard page, click Next.<br />

5. On the Local Or Network Printer page, shown in Figure 11-2, select Local Printer<br />

Attached To This Computer, and then click Next.
