Objective 3.2 Implement, Manage, and Troubleshoot Display Devices
23-13
Objective 3.2 Questions
1. You bought a new computer with recently released multimedia hardware including a
video adapter with many advanced features. The computer was shipped with Windows
XP Professional preinstalled, but the vendor’s documentation indicates that the external
television port on the video adapter did not have a functional driver at the time of
shipping and that you must check with vendor’s Web site for updates. Two weeks later,
you find and download new drivers for the video adapter from the vendor’s Web site.
You install them and reboot when told to do so. The system restarts normally, and you
log on. You see an error message indicating that the display settings have been
restored to their defaults. You try to open the Display program in Control Panel, but the
system freezes.
What is the best way to return the computer to full functionality? Choose the best
answer.
A. Turn the computer off, unplug the power cord, and disconnect it from the video
monitor. Physically move the video adapter to a different slot, and then reconnect
the cables and restart the computer.
B. Restart the computer using safe mode. Click the Roll Back Driver button from the
video adapter’s properties dialog box to restore the original device drivers for the
video adapter.
C. Restart the computer and use the ASR to restore the original drivers.
D. Restart the computer using the Recovery Console to delete the new video device
drivers.
2. You buy a new computer with an Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP) video adapter. You
install Windows XP Professional from the installation CD-ROM, and the video adapter
is automatically configured. You use the computer for several days at a resolution of
1600 x 1200 and decide that the text appears too small on-screen to be easily readable.
You want to change the font size to 125 percent of its normal size. What do you do?
Choose the correct answer.
A. Edit the size manually in the system Registry using the Registry Editor tool.
B. Open Device Manager from the Computer Management console.
C. Select the List All Modes button from the Adapter tab of the display adapter’s
advanced properties dialog box.
D. Adjust the DPI setting from the General tab of the display adapter advanced properties
dialog box.
