Real World Monitoring Multiple Remote Computers Easily
The Microsoft Management Console (MMC) allows you to add multiple snap-ins
that can connect to different remote computers. If you routinely monitor shared
folders and users on several different remote computers, you can create a custom
console that lets you switch between those computers easily. To create a custom
console for monitoring multiple remote computers, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Run dialog box, type mmc, and then click OK.
Windows XP displays an empty MMC console named Console 1.
3. Click File, and then click Add/Remove Snap-In.
4. In the Add/Remove Snap-In dialog box, click Add.
5. In the Add Standalone Snap-In dialog box, in the Available Standalone Snap-
Ins list, click Shared Folders, and then click Add.
6. In the Shared Folders dialog box, click Another Computer, and then type the
name of the remote computer (or click Browse to locate the computer on the
network).
7. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 for each computer you want to add to the console.
