Winnt.exe The command used for starting Windows XP Professional installation in
MS-DOS and Windows 3.0/3.1.
Winnt32.exe The command used for starting Windows XP Professional installation
in Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT 4.0, or Windows 2000
Professional.
Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) One of two wireless encryption standards available
in Windows XP Professional. WEP is the encryption standard that is specified
by the IEEE 802.11 standard. The other encryption standard available is Wi-Fi Protected
Access (WPA).
workgroup A collection of computers grouped for sharing resources such as data
and peripherals over a local area network (LAN). Each workgroup is identified by
a unique name. See also domain, peer-to-peer network.
World Wide Web (WWW) Also known as the Web, the Internet multimedia service
that contains a vast storehouse of hypertext documents written in Hypertext
Markup Language (HTML). See also Hypertext Markup Language (HTML).
WORM See Write-Once Read-Many (WORM).
WPA See Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA).
WPA See Windows Product Activation (WPA).
Write-Once Read-Many (WORM) Any type of storage medium to which data can be
written only once but can be read any number of times. Typically, this is an optical
disc whose surface is permanently etched using a laser to record information.
WWW See World Wide Web (WWW).
Z
zone A zone represents a discrete portion of the domain namespace. Zones provide
a way to partition the domain namespace into discrete manageable sections.
