You use the System Properties dialog box (available in the Control Panel window) to<br />

configure operating system settings. These system settings affect the operating system<br />

environment regardless of which user is logged on to the computer.<br />

Lesson 3 Configuring System Settings<br />

To configure system settings, in Control Panel, click Performance And Maintenance. To<br />

view operating system performance configuration options, in the Performance And<br />

Maintenance window, click System, and then click the Advanced tab. The Advanced<br />

tab of the System Properties dialog box (see Figure 5-7) allows you to configure performance<br />

options, user profiles, startup and recovery settings, environment variables,<br />

and error reporting.<br />

Tip You can open the System Properties dialog box quickly by right-clicking the My Computer<br />

icon and clicking Properties.<br />
