b. A.D. 376 at Pella in Macedonia. Gr<strong>and</strong>son of Ausonius <strong>and</strong> educated by him in<br />

Bordeaux. After Gothic invasions of Bordeaux <strong>and</strong> Bazas, compromised with the<br />

Alans <strong>and</strong> held office under Attalus in 410. Lived near Marseilles for many years, <strong>and</strong><br />
