Some adverbs are used to indicate that an activity<br />

continues for a period of time, or happens regularly once in<br />

one such period, for example, throughout the year or once a<br />

year, thoughout the month or once a month, etc. These<br />

adverbs are formed by combining meu- with certain time<br />

units, such as month, year, week, etc.<br />

meuthon 'throughout the year, once a year'<br />

meuleuem 'throughout the hour, once in every hour'<br />

meuieumeu'at 'throughout the week, once a week'<br />

2.4.7 Adverbs of Manner<br />

Most adverbs of manner are derived from adjectives,<br />

some are in their original forms. As an example, meulek<br />

'slow' is an adjective in qeulitan meulek 'slow train,' but<br />

an adverb in meulek -ii-iak 'walk/run slowly.' Other examples<br />

of adverbs derived from adjectives are:<br />

rava (ii-meusu) 'big 3y-speak (he spoke loudly)'<br />

teulat (trok) 'late arrive (arrived late)'<br />

gbt Hi-peugot) 'good 3-make (it was made' well)'<br />

manvang Mi-ek) 'high 3-climb (it rises high)'
